At Ball Eggleston, we pride ourselves on the caliber of attorneys we attract to our firm. We all come from different backgrounds and experiences, but we work together to form a team that is ready to help solve your legal questions. This post is part of an ongoing series, Meet our Attorneys, so that you can get to know the men and women who work tirelessly to give back to the Lafayette community we know and love so well. Each attorney took some time out of their busy schedule to sit down for an interview and share their story.
Jason Ramsland joined Ball Eggleston in 2011 after graduating from the Indiana University McKinney School of Law in 2010. Before that he graduated from Taylor University in Upland, Indiana with a degree in political science, pre-law and psychology.
Prior to coming to Lafayette, Mr. Ramsland served as a Law Clerk at Gibbons and Jones, PC in Indianapolis and a Bailiff for Marion County.
Mr. Ramsland currently focuses on these areas of law:
Mr. Ramsland was admitted to the Indiana Bar and the United States District Court of the Southern District of Indiana in 2010, the Northern District in 2011, and the United States Supreme Court in 2013. He is a member of the Indiana State Bar Association and is the Director of the Tippecanoe County Bar Association. Mr. Ramsland resides in Lafayette with his wife, Hannah, who is a Purdue University graduate.
Mr. Ramsland became a lawyer because of his high school history and government teacher, Tim Moore. Mr. Moore was a “rather rebellious teacher for a Christian school” who also led We the People, a simulated congressional hearing club similar to a debate team. Moore’s classes and club emphasized constitutional law, and 17-year-old Ramsland was fascinated.
Following family tradition, Ramsland attended Taylor University in Upland, IN. Although he started as a psychology major, Ramsland switched to political science and pre-law, following after his father.
While at Taylor, Mr. Ramsland had the opportunity to “dip his toes” in law. His classes and extracurricular activities only confirmed his interest. Today, Mr. Ramsland says that becoming an attorney was his “destiny.”
During the firm’s 60+ years, Ball Eggleston has established a reputation for its dedication to the Greater Lafayette community and a prominence among Indiana law firms. Mr. Ramsland interviewed at Ball Eggleston per the recommendation of Indianapolis lawyers he admired.
Mr. Ramsland is committed to seeking justice for both employers and employees, and we are a better-rounded firm since adding him to our team. To learn more about Mr. Ramsland, visit his page on our website, http://ball-law.com/service/jasonramsland/.
